I know this is nigh impossible to read, but as it sez, we have a breaker issue & our power was out and I have a headache to beat the band (whatever THAT means!), so that accounts for the terrible drawing & painting...nonetheless, I looove my books! this is what I'm reading right now...I'm actually kind of glad I did such a sucky drawing in my Moleskine--now I won't feel worried in the slightest about messing it up--lol! I see myself as space...I feel FREEEEEEEEE!

This is my first entry in my Rampage of Appreciation sketchbook, many of which will likely find their way onto me blog! I'm delighted to have waited to use my Moleskine for such a thrilling project! My favorite shoes aside, right now I'm *especially* appreciating Robert coming out on Father's Day to fix the phase of electricity that suddenly died (the half that runs the A/C). Thank you, Robert!

Tagged!
I've been tagged by Barbara. So here goes with the answers:
1. What was I doing 10 years ago? My young 'un was 7ish, so I was probably playing Room Mom while working as a Child Protective Investigator for the State of Florida.
2. What are 5 things on my To-Do list? Buy more strawberries and more organic bananas, ride my newish road bike, finish a couple more loads of laundry, finish Oscar Wilde's only novel, "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and talk my husband into making dinner.
3. What snacks do I enjoy? PBJ Smoothie from Planet Smoothie (especially since I can make it at home in my new personal blender!!)
4. What would I do if I were a billionaire? Go everywhere & paint en plein air!
5. Places I've lived: Great Britain, New York, & Florida
6. Who would I like to know more about? Eh--the first five folks who've read this far, please consider yourself officially tagged. Heh.
Here are the rules: Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

My Katie wanted to learn to paint, so tonight she painted this peony rose that she gave me the other day--pretty terrific for her first time, eh? 20 x 24 oil.

A little beach action... in case you're not a beach-goer, you should know just how windy & sandy the beach is! Still, I had fun doing this!

Rusty ol' me doing a still life: 'Scrape the Mold Off the Bread.' If it makes me happy, it can't be that bad. I've been down, real low down. Feel like I've derailed my own train, but who hasn't been there before?

One of my freshmen grabbed my phone & took this pic of me while I was listening to a student read aloud...today's the last day of classes before we begin our exam schedule, so I let him get away with it--lol--plus, I sorta like the pic!

I think this is the last one I'm willing to go out on a limb and show to my internet friends...I seem to have stunned many folks with these...at any rate, this has been a great figure drawing experience--too bad my models can't control themselves--lo! On a positive note, my friend is going to frame these and paint using them as a reference.
More from Tim & Andrea. Sorry if anyone finds these offensive; believe me, I've edited out the really racy ones!

Okay, so I know this isn't a great drawing, but...when my friend volunteered herself & her boyfriend I didn't realize what they had in mind...still, I like it (and them) enough to post it. And I thought today was gonna be boring! I have others that, well, I'm a bit reluctant to post....

Here's a rough drawing of somethin' I'd like to work up into a painting--sort of like my 'Ordinary Penelope.' What say ye?

Call me
crazy, but I just packed away all my paints, brushes, & canvases, etc. All I'm keeping out is paper, pencils, pens, & ink. I've decided to work with Nicolaides' 'The Natural Way To Draw' until it is complete. If you're familiar with it, you know this is a pretty big undertaking, but I feel like I could really benefit from the direction it offers instead of being all over the place artistically like I have been. I've had this book forever, and didn't appreciate it until very recently. Anyway, ya know I'll share my progress; I just wanted to clue y'all in so you know why it may look like I'm scribbling--lol! Hope your Friday is going smoothly--I'm still itching from that stupid Ambien!

Another quickie before Every Day In May officially starts. As the graffiti shows, Orlando's Mayor, Buddy Dyer, is not so fondly referred to as 'Bloody Liar' after he failed to save a senior citizen's mobile home community from closure when the adjacent high school tried to buy the land in an effort to expand/rebuild. I have mixed feelings about this as I teach at the school, and my daughter attends it, yet I also know some folks who live there. This isn't the greatest sketch, but I felt for the former resident's as I worked on it, & I hope that is reflected here...
